Group Classes

Group classes serve as an introduction to some of the basic human movements such as walking, running, balancing, jumping, crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, throwing, and catching. Each class will focus on different skills to develop a strong foundation for each movement. You can expect to establish a solid foundation that will help you progress to more complex and intense applications of each skill.

General Human Movement | Basic human movement skills such as walking, running, balancing, jumping, crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, throwing, and catching are introduced.

Evasion and Concealment | Hide and seek is a favorite childhood game for a practical reason: to become adept at hunting and/or escaping. Learn the proper techniques from a reconnaissance expert in the army. Test out your evasion and concealment skills with group games.

Playing with Sticks | Develop your reaction, agility and flexibility with the use of wooden sticks.

Getting Down on All Fours | Babies do it, many animals do it, and a strong human should be able to do it too. Crawling is one of the first movement skills that we pick up as an infant. It requires contra-lateral movement and a strong core. Come learn the many types of crawls, and be prepared to experience a full body workout.

Climb Like a Monkey | Get your hands ready to grab something. We will focus on the basics of climbing this lesson. From simply getting your body to swing from a stationary position to more advanced techniques that require power and skills. We will also get a taste of tree climbing. You will notice how different it is to climb a tree than a bar. See what it feels like being a monkey in the tree and you’ll understand why kids love to climb trees.

Manipulation: Lift, Carry, Throw, Catch | Manipulating an external object like a rock, a tree log, or even a human body is an essential survival skill. Objects in nature are much more complex than barbells in gym. While lifting weights in the gym does help to condition your body, the things we lift in real life situations are often not balanced and do not present an easy grip. Try lifting a fully unconscious person from the ground during a rainy day by yourself and you will know what we mean. The human body is also evolved to throw objects at high speed for hunting. Compared to other primates, we are much weaker but can throw much farther if we use the catapult in our bodies. Learn how to manipulate objects safely and efficiently!

Born to Run | Running is one of the most frequently performed exercise but most people do it inefficiently. According to Georges Hebert, founder of Methode Naturelle, running is the primary and most practical exercise of all natural human movements. We humans are one of the best endurance runners in the animal kingdom. Learn to run efficiently (even barefoot) without injuries.

Defying Gravity: Jumping and Vaulting | Jumping is one of the human body’s purest expressions of power. Learn the most important aspect of jumping – landing safely. We will cover various jumps like standing, running, leg swing, and precision. We will then learn the different ways to vault across obstacles by coordinating jumping with arm support.

Mobility and Movement | Bring fluidity to your joints through mobility exercises. We will work on dynamic movements to help you move more smoothly. Movements will be on the ground without equipment so you can learn and do them anywhere.

Primal | An intermediate class for students already familiar with natural human movements. We will explore different obstacles throughout the park. The class focuses on opportunistic training, adaptability, and efficiency.
